Admiralty - Gamakatsu

Gamakutsa hooks

The last time, I saw lots of fishes (unknown) gathering at a squarish rock. I was quite curious to find out what they were. As I was using grubs that time, not possible to get them. Today, I came mainly to try out my new Gamakutsa hooks that I just got, and hence will be targetting small fishes.

Causeway jam

Weird birthday sign from "enemy"

A dropped me off after sending D to school. That was about 7am. Water then had gone down a little (tide: 4am), but still fairly high enough. I parked myself in front of that squarish rock again. But this time, I couldn't see any fishes there. Actually for the whole morning, I spied only a few fishes, todaks, glass fishes, a chromide. Somehow, perhaps due to the down going tide, all the fishes all gone.

I rigged a float, as well as an apollo on my Gamakutsa. This was the first time tying spaded hooks for me, and after some practices, I managed to get the hang of it.

Cast here and there, pretty quiet all around. Until I finally got a small glass fish near the edge. Well, thankful for this fellow, at least I got something today. Also, there were 2 times when the rod tip dipped quite strongly, but didn't connect ie fish got away.

After that, all quiet on the western front. As usual, some joggers would come over to look see and ask "got fish or not" type of questions. Water start to get quite dirty with some oil slicks generally at the edge. I decided to pack, and reeled up my bottom rig and was surprise to see a flower crab. Quite a fiesty fellow. Took some pics and released it.

Dismay Day Of fishing at Admiralty West

My fishing skills must be turning bad. Today, thought of doing some easy catches with bread just at the back of my house at Admiralty West. My past trips, I had seen so many mullets and small fishes abound during the rising tide. Today's tide was around 5-6pm, perfect for an late afternoon session.

But not sure if it was the bread, I was using Gardenia white bread. The fishes refused to touch it. Even when I threw a big slab of soft white bread, fishes initially went for it but the moment they got to the floating piece, they turned away. The weapon for them should be small hooks with prawn meat. But no prawn meat with me. No choice then, switch to my texas rig with grub.

But cast and cast, nothing at all. Again, I had a major major birdnest. Since I was quite thin on my lines, I tried very hard to unravel it. I actually tried for an hour later, it was still in a big mess after that long time. Gave up, and finally took the scissors to snip it off.

Around 6+pm, tide water was quite high. And you could actually see loads of small fishes, and some pretty decent size one. But I wasn't quite sure what fishes they were. From the top, kind of Tilapia looking. But this was saltwater. I dragged my grub right in front of them, but totally no interest. *SIGH*

Exercise at LSR, Admiralty West

Picked D after swimming, and went to LSR for some wetting lines. But time was short as I need to meet the PF at 12pm. So, it was just a 20 mins session with my newly bought Yellow Humbug. But got nothing, as expected, given the short time. Eyes of humbug dropped out.(it got no eyes to see my lousy fishing...:P) I repaired it using the eyes of another humbug that I didn't like(Pic with the repaired eye). This Yellow one was supposed to be a PB killer.

In the evening, A wanted to make her hair, went Marsiling beachfront for some casting with Gulp! shrimps. Saw lots of bait activity, but didn't get anything too. Water was quite high, and today, was lucky not to pull up any rubbish. But actually, plentiful of small fishes. Saw some mullets swimming around. And lots of crabs swimming and making circle ripples in the water.
